Background

As an experiment in 2024 we made four Rhodie Bears. We assigned them with "service numbers" RB001 to RB004. They were a great success and were deployed to bases around New Zealand and one went to the USA. We then encountered a number of problems in that we could not get a reliable supply of the bears that we used and the experienced doll maker who was helping us had to cease work for health reasons.

We overcame these challenges, and we have produced another limited batch of Rhodie Bears with "service numbers" starting at RB201. Making these guys is way out of our normal line of work, making dolls clothes and miniaturised components is specialised work.

The customisation of our Rhodie Bears has been done with care by ordinary people in their homes, not in factories. We hope that some of the love and attention to detail put into this unique Rhodie Bear brings joy to the new owner.

Details

All clothing and accessories are made in New Zealand from imported and New Zealand made components:

He is approximately 20cm top to toe
The shirt is 1/6^th size Rhodesian pattern camo.
The shorts are the same material that we make our Rhodie Wear PT shorts from.
The dog tags are leather on waxed cord.
Each Rhodie Bear's cap is tethered to his shirt in the same manner that we tethered our caps to our shirts to avoid loss in chopper rotor wash back in the day.
Each Rhodie Bear has a unique “service number” located at the inside top of his shirt collar.
